Discover NMYCA
Through training, discipline, and mentoring, the New Mexico National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Academy provides the education, leadership, character development and life coping skills to New Mexico's youth. Discover why NMYCA is one of New Mexico's Premier Leadership Programs.
NMYCA offers 2 Cycles a year. That means 2 chances to change. Winter Cycle begins January, followed by the Fall Cycle beginning in July.
WHY NMYCA?
Education
Complete high school in just 22 weeks, earning a HiSET (GED alternative) or recover high school credits and return on track to graduate with your friends. Be enrolled in college vocational classes like Wildland Firefighting, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Response, Welding, and Automotive—no tuition fees.
Discipline
Cadets improve their discipline through physical fitness participation in military styled physical training, running, and organized sports designed to encourage a lifelong commitment to physical wellbeing. Cadets must also uphold the military standards of the NMCYA Cadet.
Mentoring
NMYCA is a second chance; it's the catalyst for change. It's the place where your future gains momentum, where alternative learning transforms into opportunity. NMYCA is not about labels; it's about resilience, reward, and the challenge of personal growth. Remember, it's called ChalleNGe for a reason—because it's not easy, but the journey is worth every step.

I've had 3 Cadets that have been there and they are so happy they did. Change came to them and they appreciated everything they showed them.

One of the best decisions my son could have made for himself and his future. Due to issue he was having at school, he did not want to continue his High School. He did not want to be a drop out, he had a plan for his future. NMYCA gave him the opportunity to continue to work towards his goals. His next chapter begins when he attends WyoTech. Proud of my Cycle 43 Graduate.

This has been the best investment i've made into my child's future thus far. I am grateful beyond words for the opportunity for my son to be a part of Cycle 44. I cannot recommend this program highly enough.
